Ms. Garling

Hi and welcome!

Fifth graders are my favorite!  I am lucky to be the science and social studies teacher for four fifth grade classes of students.  While we're all starting the year virtually, when we are able to return to school in person, I will teach three of the classes in-person and the fourth online.

A little bit about me:

I have experience teaching in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.  In 2005 I was hired as a long term substitute in fifth grade and I'm excited not only to be back in fifth grade (after teaching twelve years in fourth grade here at Glenolden School) but also in the same classroom I first started in!

I'm a teacher with a passion for teaching and creating things to make learning more fun.

Some of my loves...

spending time with my family, my fiance Eric, friends, pets (three cats and a box turtle), photography, reading, cooking, anything to do with autumn, hot tea, nature, learning, DIY, dark chocolate, the beach, camping, all things Penn State & spending time in the presence of kids.  There are many days when I get to enjoy multiple favorites in a day!

I enjoyed school when I was younger and I want each of my students to have a similar experience.  My hope is that I can encourage each of my students to be excited about learning, feel pride in their successes and learn the importance of becoming lifelong learners.

The 20-21 school year is here.  Let's make it a great one!
