Interboro Hometown Heroes Banner Program

  • Hometown Heroes Banner Program Information & Instructions

    • First things to note:

      • Cost of banner: $80.00 each

      • Interested parties should begin process to acquire DD214 document (can be pulled from this government website if family doesn't have a copy). Note: A veteran has to have been honorably discharged, which will be noted on the DD form.

      • Veterans can be alive or have passed, but they or their families should have resided or are still currently residing in the Interboro communities of Glenolden, Norwood, Prospect Park, or Tinicum Township.

      • Banners will be placed on main streets first on telephone poles. Then secondary streets. We will not be able to honor location requests except for the follow: some families have asked for a physical location for deathly sick Veteran. This will be considered an extraordinary event and will have to be decided at the Boro/Twp level

    • Interested parties should

      • 1) Fill out the application online and this paper copy for your records.

      • 2) Provide a professional quality picture. 5 x7 is the best option. If you have film, negatives, or another size photo, it may be best to go to a pharmacy - i.e., CVS - to create the required copy. We will need a good copy for our records. The Veteran should be in uniform. Picture can be black and white or color

      • 3) Gather info together and place in envelope (do not bend picture),  Application, picture, DD form and check for $80.00 made out to Norwood American Legion Post 507/banners.  Please include any special requests as well (see 5 above).

      • 4) Deliver to closest location:

        • the local Boro/Twp buildings

        • the American Legion or VFW posts

        • Interboro School District Administration Building mailbox

The goal is to have all banner orders done by end of March and banners hung before Memorial Day. But this is based on weather and other outside events not impacting program!
