Keys to Success

  • Over the past two school years that we have offered an Interboro education virtually, we’ve learned a few things about what makes our students and families successful. Here are some of the keys to success:

    • Self-motivation - having the drive to pursue goals and complete tasks
    • Self-discipline - having the ability to stick with a task or goal despite the temptation to quit or take an easier path
    • Desire for independence - wanting to learn, solve, explore, consider, and decide on your own
    • Self-advocacy - having the voice to ask for what you need from others
    • Time management - having the skill to set your own time-bound goals and deadlines and to stick with them independently
    • Able to meet deadlines - paying attention to due dates and ability to manage time and effort efficiently to meet them
    • Comfortable using different modes of communication - including email, direct messaging, and Zoom/video conferencing
    • Regularly attend live advisory, homeroom, or morning meetings - this is an important live link to your school community
    • Determined - sticking with your goal until you've seen it through to completion
    • Committed - having the wholehearted dedication to achieve your goals through virtual education
    • Eager to meet challenges
    • Basic computer skills
    • Comfortable in a “virtual” environment - sending emails, attachments, participating in online discussions
    • Unafraid to try new things - the virtual world can be a departure from the way you're accustomed to learning.
