Ninth to Eleventh Grades: Art I
Course Description: This course teaches basic drawing & design concepts with an emphasis placed on understanding the elements of art & principles of design. Students will be exposed to a variety of art media to expand their knowledge and appreciation for creating art.

Tenth to Twelfth Grades: 2D Design
Course Description: This course expands on the design aspect of Art I. Students will see how design influences every aspect of our everyday lives. Students will be exposed to a variety of media while they explore in depth concepts relating to the elements of art and principles of design.

Ninth to Twelfth Grades: Art II
Course Description: This course is intended to build on the skill sets of Art 1. Students will complete more substantive projects based in the elements of art and the principals of design, with an emphasis on drawing from life (still-life, portraits). Students will also complete a ceramic sculpture.

Eleventh to Twelfth Grades: Art III
Course Description: This course studies advanced techniques in drawing, painting, design and sculpture. Students will be responsible for completing projects, participating in class critiques and maintaining a sketchbook. A prepared portfolio is expected at the end of this course.

Ninth to Twelfth Grades: 3D Design
Course Description: Students will create a variety of sculptures based in the elements of art and principals of design. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of sculpture materials including but not limited to ceramic, plaster, cardboard, wire and found objects.

Twelfth Grade: AP Studio Art
Course Description: This is the culmination of the IHS art curriculum. In this course students will prepare a college level portfolio. The portfolio is 50% assigned projects and 50% work created by the student based on a central theme of their choosing.
